Chapter Six

Bryn woke up early Saturday morning and stretched, immediately feeling delicious body aches in areas she hadn’t felt in years. If ever. She wasn’t sure if she was happy about that or not.

Oz had tortured her for months with his crass personality and chauvinistic demeanor, which, if she were being honest, was describing his attitude much too gently. He’d been an asshole to her before.

Heck, he was even one last night, being all pushy and demanding.

And down right. Hot. Hot. Hot.

Jeez, she’d never been so turned on in her life. The way he held her, controlled her. With a past filled to the brim with egotistical men, she should know better than to get weak in the knees from a little sexy power play … or to get involved with a man like that at all. She’d never intended on throwing caution to the wind like that, especially with a rogue like Oz Osborne, but intentions or not, it happened.

Right on her bathroom counter.

She groaned as she dragged herself out of bed. She needed coffee. Coffee made everything better.

After slipping on her robe, she nudged the closet door shut with her hip. New tenderness flared. She’d have hand-shaped bruises there when she looked later. She just knew it. As she walked out of her room and tied her robe shut, she pushed all thoughts of her infuriatingly sexy neighbor from her mind.

I had sex with him.

She’d made it to the kitchen and had put one scoop of coffee grounds into the maker before that reality assaulted her. Gah. She’d had sex with the man who’d made her life miserable these last few months.

But did he really? she thought as she measured out the rest of the coffee and set it to brew.

Comparatively speaking, Oz was nowhere near as evil as Marco Collins. If she were going to blame someone for making her life miserable, it wasn’t fair to put a man complaining about runny eggs over the criminal responsible for making her hide out.

He fucked me in the bathroom. Yes, yes he did, and you liked it, you little ho bag.

She moaned and rubbed her eyes under her glasses as the Columbian aroma filled the air. The man screwed her all right, and then he just left. Left her standing in the bathroom, staring after his retreating back. What kind of man did that? Showed a woman the heights of passion and then showed her his back? She’d showered in a daze, replaying the events, but she’d been too dickmatized to think clearly. She’d gone to bed—alone—without any answers. No clearer understanding came to her now, either. But she didn’t have to accept what had happened to realize she had an even bigger problem to deal with.

How could she face him now?

Light knocks ripped her out of her reverie. She stared down at her bare legs peeking through the bottom of her robe and wondered who’d be knocking on her door on an early Saturday—

“Open up, Bryn,” Oz said from the other side.
